A Guide to Navigating SC Oncology Associates
Considered one of the southeastern leaders in cancer care, the Cancer Center at South Carolina Oncology Associates, SCOA, has been serving Columbia for more than 40 years.
Now, Columbia Firefighters Association Local 793 and the Columbia Fire Department have partnered with SC Oncology Associates to provide free, comprehensive cancer screenings for firefighters in Richland and Lexington Counties. These services include yearly blood tests and diagnostic imaging services.
Scheduling Your Screening
- To schedule your screening, visit the “Request Appointment” section on SC Oncology’s homepage.
- Begin filling out the New Patient Appointment Request by selecting the location option “COLUMBIA LOCATION” and then enter your full name, DOB, Phone Number, and Email Address.
- Select one of the following options:
- Home Phone – This option will have all messages regarding your appointment delivered via phone call.
- Cell Phone – This option will deliver all messages regarding your appointment via text message.
- Add your primary Provider’s information if you have one.
- Select your insurance provider.
- In the “Let us know how we can help you.” section, select the “Other” option and type the following into the text box: “First Responder CFD”
**This step is crucial; if you do not follow it, the clinic scheduling staff will not be aware that you are signing up for the no-cost screening for the CRFD. ****
- Click “Submit”
Once you have applied, please allow up to 48 hours for the clinic scheduler to contact you and schedule your appointment. You must bring your City Issued Fire Department ID to the appointment. The clinic will verify it to ensure you are eligible for the no-cost appointment. Once verified, you will not be charged.
